The Company is developing a unique and proprietary device for the enteral feeding market.
LunGuard’s product is a Peristaltic Feeding Tube (PFT) that is capable of managing reflux, preventing pulmonary aspiration and is expected to significantly lower the occurrence of Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) in ventilated patients
Enteral feeding refers to the delivery of liquid feedings through a tube.
Enteral feeding, are used in patients who have a functioning gastrointestinal tracts, but are unable to orally ingest adequate nutrients to meet their metabolic needs, due to gastrointestinal disorders, neuromuscular disorders, such as ALS, muscular dystrophy, spinal cord defects, or damage to the central nervous system, cardiopulmonary disorders and other conditions of hyper metabolism such as burns and cancer.
Enteral feeding occurs in various hospital settings to provide nutritional stability to premature infants, as well as in the ICU

The innovative and unique disposable PFT (Peristaltic Feeding Tube), that is monitored and controlled 24/7 by the bedside CMU, brings a novel solution to the problem of gastric reflux towards the oropharynx when enteral feeding is employed.
The LunGuard PFT mimics the physiology of the natural peristaltic mechanism of the esophagus. The PFT is designed to prevent reflux induced aspiration while at the same time allow liquids (such as saliva) to flow down the esophagus.
Accomplished first in man Pivital trials initiation is expected on Q1/2012 CE mark is expected at the end of 2012
The system had apporved for pivotal trials and will be submitted to the CE mark after study accoplishment.
