The Company
Greenoy Ltd. is developing a new coating method for fresh cut Ornamental Plants. This method enables exporters to change the transportation way of annual 450,000 tons of Ornamentals from air shipment to vessels and to reduce shipment cost by 80%. In addition, vessel transportation is reducing CO2 emission to the atmosphere by 50times in compression to air transportation.
The Problem
Current flowers' shelf life is limited to about a week only. Therefore, shipments to distanced markets are limited to expensive and polluting air transportation.
Market Potential
The developed platform and the additives will be used in the flowers and foliage markets for storage period extension. It will save a lot of money to the growers, exporters and distributors.
The average user's cost of Greenoy's products per ton of flowers will be less than 600$.The cost of 1 Ton of air shipment of flowers from Israel to USA is about $3,000.
Since marine shipments cost about 1/5 of air shipment, still the total cost,including the cost of Greenoy products remains about 1/3 of the air shipments.
The average cost per flower is about 2 cents. The potential world wide market is actually all users that need storage period greater than three weeks.
There are not available products on the market that can extend the storage of the cut flowers for more than 2 weeks.
Technology (product) Description
The treatment is done by dipping the whole flowers or foliage in the water-based product before storage and is fully combined in the post harvesting process that is done by the growers. The key factor for success is the combination of the products and the unique pre treatment.
Competition
There is no other known company that can provide such an efficient system for long term preservation of ornamental cut flowers.
