The Company
Leading providers of power line communications (PLC) modem integrated circuits. Yitran designs, develops and markets high performance low cost modem chips, designed to provide reliable and robust communication over existing power grids and electrical wiring.
The Problem
Narrowband - Applications utilizing the existing electrical wiring and grids, such as
"Smart Grid" applications (AMR/AMM/AMI), Energy Management homes and offices, Street Lights, Command & Control in general.
Market Potential
Yitran sells 3m dollar per year so far. As its components are used by a large number of Meters manufacturers, in 13 appliances of LG, By LS in Korea, National Panasonic in switches and lighting, Hitachi Air conditions. Yitran second source for its chip is one of the largest semiconductors in the world - Renesas from Japan. Yitran and Renesas partnered together to fulfill the future market need.
Yitran technology is considered to be a standard in Japan- Echonet, USA- HomePlug C&C, Korea – LNCP and more.
Yitran expects to sell millions of chips per year.
Yitran chips are sold in Russia, Ukraine, South Africa, Europe, Japan, Korea, and the US.
Technology (product) Description
IT700 - the IT700 is a highly integrated IC combining an extended 8051 CPU core, HPCC-ready PLC transceiver, 256K Flash and 16K RAM, offering data rates up to 7.5 Kbps. Manufactured on a 0.18u flash technology, the IC comes in a QFN56 package. Compared to the current IT800 series ICs, the IT700 integrates many of the components including the line driver inside the chip and takes in a single 3.3v input. IT700 is ideally suited for AMR/AMM/AMI, Home and Building Automation applications and is priced optimally for mass market adoption.
IT800 – Is the first generation (before the IT700). It is a SoC (System on a Chip) Power Line Communication modem integrates the IT800 PHY+DLL (layer 1 + layer 2). The Application Controller (the Host) interfaces the device through a UART physical interface, on top of which a simple command language (logical interface) is implemented, allowing seamless integration with various microprocessors.
