The Company
DSPV is a telecommunications infrastructure company specializing in UMTS video services. DSPV develops server-side technology that enables VAS applications from any 3G phones via a simple video call. The company has also developed unique speech and image recognition technologies that enhance the user experience during a video call.
The Problem
Despite the general availability and significant penetration of 3G phones and networks (>20% of users in Europe by 2007), usage of advanced 3G features such as the phone camera and video calling is still low, representing a lost revenue opportunity for the operators and content/service providers.
The Solution
DSPV develops a server-side technology that turns a camera phone into a "reading" input device, Enabling OCR, barcode, Numbers & Logo recognition from images and video calls.
Market Potential
Most new phones sold in the APAC and EMEA region are currently UMTS phones. All UMTS phones and networks inherently support the ability to conduct a video call without any special configuration and without a "data plan". Hence there are already >500 Million available users worldwide for the technology, with the number expected to exceed 1 Billion by 2010. The IVR market is currently a multi Billion $ market worldwide, and most of it is expected to migrate to IVVR (Interactive Voice and Video Response) in the coming years.
Products
Targeting mainly the 3G Video-Call market, DSPV has developed a complete video encoding, delivery and application-definition platform enabling any organization to deploy a complete Video-IVR portal based on the DSPV technology and running on low cost standard PC hardware and DSPV's VideoCelling™ platform is a complete video call solution, providing everything necessary for providing a full service: video encoding, synthesizing, streaming and reception, as well as advanced image recognition and interactivity features.
Competition
DSPV's competitors are large, publicly traded companies that sell telecoms equipment to carriers. DSPV's unique implementation and full solution thus enables it to partner with companies that cannot buy Carrier Class equipment and do not have the resources and know how to integrate such solutions. Among DSPV's competitors are: Radvision (RVSN), Dilithium Networks, NMS communications and others.
