MEP
MEP

The Company
MEP Technologies is an Israeli based company, founded in 2005. The company has developed a paradigm-shift technology (patent pending) for enhancing digital photography. Based on complex algorithms and methodologies, MEP enables sophisticated image enhancements to deliver unparalleled quality of pictures – in a way never previously done.

The Problem
More than 700 Million camera phones were sold in 2007, and the pursuit for ultimate image quality has never been more important.
Nevertheless, physical and cost issues prevent real improvements in the field:
  • Physical issues:
    • Small apertures – limit  sufficient light capturing and True Resolution
    • Incorporation of low cost lenses and sensors (cost-efficient BOM)
    • No moving parts incorporated, for better reliability, lower BOM, lower  power consumption and  weight
  • Cost limitations:
    • Drive lower processing power
    • High quality parts (like lens, sensor, etc.) cannot be embedded
  • Human factor: most of us are amateurs... quality of pictures will always be lesser then we expect.
Market Potential
MEP initially approaches the Mobile/Cellular market. Our first product is geared to address the most current needs of mobile operators and device manufacturers.
During 2007, 700 Million camera phones were shipped. It's predicted that more than 1.3 Billion camera phones will be shipped in 2012. Moreover, printing camera phone photos retail or over the counter nearly doubled between 2007 and 2008 (Info Trends, July ’08). The U.S. mobile media and entertainment services – excluding messaging, mobile browsing and data charges – generated $3.1 billion in revenue in 2007, and are expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 16.3% to reach $6.6 billion in 2012 (Analysis, April 2008).

The Product
MEP patent-pending technology combines the skills and knowledge of Israel’s top image experts. It’s a software solution for the extraction and manipulation of information from a scene. Our architecture is client-server based, where the client-software resides on a handset, controls the camera, optimizes information acquisition and running several initial optimization processes. The MEP-server manages image enhancement and manipulation to provide the end result of a perfect picture.
Our technology seamlessly captures multiple exposures during one take (‘click’), and then through a series of processes, the exposures are automatically fused into an optimized perfect image.

Competition
DXO, SozoTek, STOIK, Photoacute, Sightic, Nethra, Advasense, Dblur, Eyesquad.
