The Company
Sonnetica Ltd. is an aesthetic technology company dedicated to aesthetic improvement of people's appearance by revolutionary non invasive focused ultrasound.
The company, backed by a very experienced group of entrepreneurs and scientists, licensed and developed breakthrough technology in the field of focused ultrasound based on years of academic research in the Technion institute, Haifa, Israel.
Sonnetica's goal is to make aesthetic treatments safe, painless, non invasive, predictable and long lasting.
The Sonnetica proprietary breakthrough technology allows for creation of microbubbles (virtual bubble injection) in a desired location by creation of a local volume with drastically lower cavitation threshold. The microbubbles' implosion is used for mechanical tissue destruction. This enables the company to offer the first and only true solution for cellulite, varicose veins and other aesthetic applications.
Its 1st generation device will target both cellulite and superficial varicose veins. Its 2nd generation device will target also the deeper varicose veins.
The Problem
Over 90% of women over the age of 30 will develop some form of cellulite - fat that is deposited in pockets just below the surface of the skin, around the hips, thighs, and buttocks and leads to a dimpled appearance. In the USA it reflects a market of about 85 M women. Currently there is no curative method for cellulite.
Approximately, 25% of the adult women and 15% of adult men have visible varicose veins. Currently there is no non invasive solution for varicose veins.
Current solutions
There are numerous therapies that have been advertised and employed to ‘treat’ cellulite. Despite multiple therapeutic modalities, there is, at best, little scientific evidence that any of these treatments are beneficial. All "solutions" for cellulite are temporary and ineffective. Only true fat cells destruction will solve the cellulite problem. For superficial varicose veins there exist one minimally-invasive treatment as alternative to surgical removal, called sclerotherapy (injection of irritant chemicals into the affected vein). Mainly Due to the invasiveness, discomfort of the procedure and the low efficacy, it is perceived by most of the patients as unsatisfactory and disappointing treatment. Accordingly with its shortcomings, only less than 5% of the patients use it.
Sonnetica's Solution
In order to overcome the problems of traditional HIFU that prevents the use of HIFU very close to the skin, the patented technology of Sonnetica uses a non invasive ultrasonic source with a combination of several frequencies and specific waveforms to decreases drastically the cavitation threshold in a pre defined volume. Due to the low cavitation threshold a local micro-bubble cloud is created. This cloud mimics the injection of micro bubbles and by its implosion can be used to create selective mechanical forces in a volume size much smaller than the natural focal volume.
In that way, one can destroy fat cells very close to the skin without damaging the skin and connective tissue or blood vessels, or destroy the endothelial cells of the inner vessel wall (that insure a desired vein closure) without damaging the surrounding tissue.
Key Benefits
Market Potential
Since there are potentially 85 Million potential patients for cellulite and the treatment cost is $US 100, the total market for cellulite is a $US 8.5 Billion in the USA alone.
Worldwide, the aesthetic market is considered the same, so the worldwide market for cellulite is $US 17 Billion
Since there are potentially 30 Million potential patients for varicose veins and the treatment cost is $US 75, the total market for all varicose veins is $US 2.25 Billion in the USA alone, and the worldwide market for all varicose veins is $US 4.5 Billion
